Lot Description
Lot of Three English Turn-Off Pistols
1.) About .47 caliber. 1.75" barrel length. SN: NSN. Brown patinated finish overall with smooth walnut bag-shaped grips and light border engraved embellishments to the frame. Single-shot boxlock percussion turn-off handgun with German silver diamond shaped escutcheon to the butt. Wheat scroll engraving adorns the flanks of the frame with the left frame enclosing the maker mark JOHNSON/& COLLINS. Item shows Birmingham proof marks on the underside of the barrel and forward frame.

2.) .38 caliber. 1.5" barrel length. SN: NSN. Traces of black enamel finish over the brass frame and iron components with the frame featuring light scroll engraving and bag-shaped walnut grips. Single-shot boxlock percussion pistol with turn-off pattern barrel. Scroll engraving on the frame with the left marked RICH &/HOLLIS. Birmingham proof markings along with the initials R.H. have been struck into the underside of the frame.

3.) .41 caliber. 1.875" barrel length. SN: NSN. Buffed bright metal finish overall with bag-shaped walnut grips and light border scroll to the frame. Single shot boxlock flintlock pistol with turn-off barrel. Left frame shows maker marking J-G/JONES with the underside of the triggerguard showing a floral engraved flourish. Underside of the frame struck with {Crown/P} and {Crown/V} London proof markings. Jaws of cock with leather wrapped flint.
This lot is located in Cincinnati.
Condition Report
1.) Good. Bore is Dark with patina throughout and pitting around the chamber. External metal finish displays a deep brown patina overall with some mars and indentations over the barrel from attempts to unscrew it at some point. The barrel lug has been nearly sheared off. Grips show stains and handling indentations. Sear spring is broken, requiring trigger to be manually reset.

2.) Good. Bore is Dark with light pitting, some patina and oxidation throughout. Barrel is a gray to brown patina with some pitting overall and traces of a black enamel finish. Brass frame is tarnished, and all iron components show some mottled brown patina and pitting. Grips show some handling wear with gaps at the rear of the lock. Action remains functional but mainspring is weak. Top left screw to fame is missing.

3.) Good as Buffed. Bore is Dark with patina and dust throughout. Barrel shows some traces of pitting with gray patina forming in the losses. Some spots of brown patina forming on the flanks of the frame and at the trigger plate and tang. Cock shows some further brown patina and mars. Grips show some light dents. Action remains functional.
