Lot Description
** DWM Gewehr 98 Dated 1915
World War I
7.92x57mm. 29" barrel length. SN: 5827c. Blued metal finish with polished receiver, bolt, and internals set in a walnut semi-pistol grip stock with long bracket bayonet mount. Bolt action repeating rifle fed by an internal box magazine mounting adjustable rear notch and dovetailed inverted-V front sights. Left receiver shows the Gothic letter model marking Gew. 98. with the top of the receiver bearing the maker marking DEUTSCHE WAFFEN-UND/MUNITIONSFABRIKEN/BERLIN/1915. The rifle shows a barrel gauge marking of 7.91, and exhibits the Imperial German {Reichsadler} mark to the left receiver by the serial number. Gothic letter inspection markings appear on the right receiver and scattered to small parts. Letter S has been struck into the top of the rear barrel. Serial numbers do not match.

Condition Report
Good. Bore is Frosty with strong rifling and some light pitting. Receiver exhibits light pitting overall that appears to have been buffed clean. Blued finish is dominated by a brown patina with the strongest blue appearing on the barrel. Stock displays rounded edges with all metal components fitting proud indicating the stock has been refinished.
