A Colima Dog Effigy Vessel
West Mexico, Circa 1st Century B.C.-2nd Century A.D.
Height 9 1/2 inches (24.2 cm).
Property from the Collection of Maria Perry, Lexington, Kentucky
Provenance:
The Lands Beyond, New York (Inv. no. 436); where acquired by the present owner, 14 April 1971.
Exhibited:
Kentucky, Lexington, Bluegrass Collectors, University of Kentucky Art Museum, 27 August - 22 October 1989 (Loan no. 89.72.2).
Condition Report
Width 8 inches (20.3 cm). Intact as preserved. Restoration to both ears and spot. Possible restoration to all four feet. Overall chips and superficial scratches. Encrustation inside the spout above the head. Smooth glossy surface with black spotting coated in a modern varnish. Overall fine attractive condition.
