[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY] -- [WESTERN AMERICANA]. A group of 10 CDVs, incl. Japanese examples and a carte of the third US Post Office in San Antonio, located inside Gamble's Book store on Commerce Street.

Together, 6 cartes de visite, each approx. 2 x 3 3/8 in albumen CDVS on cardstock mounts, condition generally good, some toning, occasional crease. 

Portrait of Maeda Nariyasu (前田斉泰, 1811-1884),  Lord Kaga. [Japan?], n.d. Pencil inscription to verso reads "Former Lord Kaga, Mayeda San, now dead." Alongside the subject's Japanese surname in pencil: "前田" [Maeda]. An important military and political figure in the early Meiji period, an enthusiastic supporter of military modernization. -- Portrait of an unidentified Japanese daimyo. [Japan?], n.d. -- Outdoor image of Awata Shirine. Kyoto, Japan, n.d. Titled in Japanese in negative. English contemporary ink inscription reads "Awata Kyoto." -- Studio portrait of a Japanese woman and Western man seated in a jinrikisha (rickshaw) with driver. N.p., n.d. -- Together, 4 Japanese cartes de visite, each approx. 3 3/4 x 2 3/8 in. albumen CDVs on card stock mounts, condition generally good, some toning, minor soiling to mounts.
