10 invitations, reception tickets, and calling cards from the Cleveland White house. -- Silk ribbon with lithographic vignette, gilt "February 19, 1886." and made out for "Mrs. McMillan." 3 1/2 x 35 in. white silk sash. -- SHAW, J.E. Inauguration Souvenir of Cleveland and Hendricks at Washington D.C. on Wednesday, March 4, 1885. New York: Grand Union Hotel, 1885. --

[With:] Six-line manuscript poem on paper with lithographed prints of a rooster. N.p., 1884. The poem and the line "burn this" is in reference to Cleveland's opponent James G. Blain's letter full of incriminating details regarding legislation helping railroads which ended "burn this letter." The Rooster was the symbol of the Democratic party at this time, before the donkey.
