Lot Description
[BUSINESS] -- [OHIO]. Assortment of 19th-20th century letters, documents and account books, highlighted by a Sidney Hall map of the United States and World War I correspondence.

Group includes items from multiple geographic regions, but in large part is focused on Ohio. Documents span 1820s through World War I-era. Notable are the following: a "United States" map by Sidney Hall, London, approx. 8 1/2 x 11 in. (creasing at horizontal fold, adhesive on verso); a group of 8 letters written ca 1919 by Corporal John G. Still (1887-1963) of Wyandot County, Ohio, to Sarah Weber of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, during his service with the American Expeditionary Forces; 2 additional WWI letters written by Private Walter L. Motter also with the AEF, and also to Weber; a group of 2 leather bound ledgers identified on the spine as "Day-Book" and "Ledger" respectively, ca 1880s, approx. 8 1/4 x 12 3/4 in. (wear, especially to corners). Both ledgers appear to relate to the business dealings of James O. Davis (1841-1902), of Licking County, Ohio.

[With:] Additional ephemera including business receipts, 1890s commencement programs from Ohio educational institutions, 2 Democratic National Convention tickets for 1936, a Republican National Convention ticket for 1940, and a WWI honorable discharge for Alfred Grant of Morrow County, Ohio.
