[NATIVE AMERICANS]. FLANDERS, D.P., photographer. Stereoview of Papago School of San Xavier. Tucson, Arizona. [Ca 1874].
6 x 3 5/8 in. stereoview on cardstock mount (diagonal crease running down the center with some damage, spotting throughout image, and wear to mount edges and corners). Flanders' imprint and series title "Scenes in Arizona" printed on mount recto, along with paper label featuring image number and title "68. Papajo School at San Xavier" affixed beneath image.
This group portrait of Papago constituents and school clergy sitting and standing in rows at the Indian School at San Xavier Mission south of Tucson was likely taken in late July or early August 1874.
