BYXBE, Lyman (1886-1980). 6 drypoint etchings, n.d., images approx. 78 x 115 mm (152 x 199 mm sheet), on wove paper, with margins, occasional toning. Bear Lake. - Dream Lake. - Dream Lake. - Lake Vale - Long's Peak. - Long's Peak. Byxbe is known for his compositions highlighting the majesty of the Rocky Mountains, with his work represented in permanent collections including at the National Gallery, the Smithsonian, and the Library of Congress.
[With:] Approximately 14 late-19th to early-20th century photographs depicting scenes from the American West, including cowboys, herds of cattle, wild horses, and landscapes. -- A group of 10 prints featuring western scenes and landscapes. -- An 8pp handwritten letter from unknown author (letter incomplete with no signature), addressed to "My Dear Mrs. Baldwin," Pueblo, Colorado, 20 July 1890, describing in detail the geography of the area along the Rio Grande known as Wagon Wheel Gap, and his excursions into the area including hot springs, fishing, and time at "Phillips Ranch."
