A Bespoke Japanese Gilt Decorated Wood Panel of The Woodbury Coat-of-Arms
EARLY 20TH CENTURY
centered with three roaring crowned lions, between a serpentine with arrows and a flowing ribbon carved with letters VERA SEQUOR (follow the truth), all above a gilt-lettered Woodbury, enclosed by clusters of auspicious clouds, floral sprigs and foliate scrolls. 
Height 21 3/4 in., 54 cm.
Property from The Strong National Museum of Play, sold to benefit the Collections Fund
John Charles Woodbury (1859-1937), purchased between 1905-13.
Accessioned by the Strong Museum of Play in 1977.
