A Japanese Inlaid Gold and Red Lacquer Three-Case Inro
19TH CENTURY
the wide rectangular inro decorated in gold, colored hiramaki-e and takamaki-e with porcelain and mother-of-pearl inlays showing a bird bearing a crawfish in its beak, perched on a gnarled tree, set on a red lacquer background, the underside bearing a four-character maker's mark, 笠公羽畫; together with a mixed-metal bead-form ojime and a painted bone leaf-form netsuke.
