An English Three-Day Ship's Chronometer
Dent, London, 19th Century
in a brass inlaid calamander case, having a 4-inch dial, subsidiary seconds dial, the dial inscribed Dent, London/ Chronometer Maker, to the/ Queen. No. 1977.
Height of case 7 x width 7 x depth 7 inches.

Condition Report
The mechanism takes a wind and runs, though unsure of the duration and accuracy of the movement. The winding key is retained within the case. With related pamphlet "Dent on the Construction and Management of Chronometers, Watches, and Clocks." Few traces of dirt, residue and tarnish visible to the clock. The case showing old scuffs, marks and scratches consistent with age and use. Areas of discoloration to the case likely associated with use and exposure to the elements. Age cracks to the case. Molded wood elements holding the glass in tact are loose and some are detached, now resting in the bottom of the clock case. There are loses to the wooden case as well as areas of lifting to the veneer. A screw is lacking from the decorative plaque.
