Gübelin began as a small watchmaker’s shop in Lucerne, Switzerland in 1854. In the 1920’s, Gübelin added a jewelry atelier to its shop, as well as a gemological laboratory to test the authenticity of the stones used in their designs. After gaining success and notoriety, the company expanded to open more stores in Switzerland and worldwide. Now in its sixth generation, it remains a family-owned company known for technical expertise in watchmaking as well as advanced colored stone testing.
