Lot Description
Pierre Cardin Haute Couture Silver Ball Dress, 1980-2000s
In his garments, Pierre Cardin included unlikely elements, embracing the material culture of modernism in the second half of the 20th century. This dress, likely a remake of earlier styles, uses convex plastic disks in a nod to his 1960s futurism.
Haute Couture black felted wool A-line sleeveless dress with scoop neckline, front silver plastic orb detail, and center back zipper closure.

Beyond her friendship with the couple, Countess von Galen was an ardent supporter of emerging, avant-garde designers including Pierre Cardin (Lots 25-48), Kansai Yamamoto (Lots 61-62), and Yohji Yamamoto (Lot 63).
