Kiowa Child's Beaded Hide Shirt and Leggings
third quarter 19th century
thread and sinew-sewn shirt made of softly tanned hide; bib is coated in red pigment and detailed with a row of domed German silver buttons and a narrow lane of beadwork; body of shirt coated in yellow and green pigments and heavily embellished with thin fringe at shoulders, bib, and chest
length 27 inches x chest 41 inches
colorful leggings are sinew-sewn and coated in yellow, red, and green pigments; fringe is strung with brass beads, brass bells, and cowrie shells
length 25 inches
