A WELL PRESERVED PATEK PHILIPPE, REF. 96 18K YELLOW GOLD 'CALATRAVA' WRISTWATCH, CIRCA 1945
31.00 mm case diameter, cream dial, applied gold dagger numerals, subdial for seconds at 6 o'clock, jeweled manual wind movement signed PATEK PHILIPPE & Co GENEVE, yellow gold flexible link bracelet, fold over clasp signed PATEK, PHILIPPE CO. 7 3/4-8 inches long.
Inner case back stamp: (Swiss hallmark) 0.750 299637 4 PATEK, PHILIPPE & Co. GENEVE SWISS.
Movement number: 927135.
Gross weight: 55.10 dwt.

Accompanied by copies of a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives, 2014, stating the date of manufacture, 1945, and date of sale, October 23rd, 1945, together with the original Henri Stern Watch Agency, Inc. receipt, 1977, factory reconditioning and lengthening of the bracelet.
The Patek Philippe Calatrava Ref. 96 was first introduced in 1932, representing the first numbered reference from Patek Philippe. The Ref. 96 saw an outstanding production life - spanning from 1932 to 1973 - and is today considered to be one of the purest forms of elegance in a dress watch. 
 
The present flawlessly preserved example belonged to the same owner until 1974 and has been looked after by the same gentleman ever since. The watch is accompanied by a Henri Stern Watch Agency Inc. service receipt from 1977 from the current owner, as well as a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming the date of sale on October 23, 1945.
