[CIVIL WAR]. MEAGHER, Thomas Francis (1823-1867). War-date autograph note signed ("Thomas Francis Meager"), as Brigadier General, US Volunteers, Commanding the District of the Etowah. Chattanooga, TN. 1 December 1864.  

1 page, 5 1/4 x 3 1/2 in. note, very minor creasing, framed together photographic portrait and biography, please note that yellow cast in the framed image is from discolored plexiglass.

Thomas Francis Meagher was best known for his recruitment of the Irish Brigade, the "Fighting 69th Regiment." He fought at Fair Oaks, Gaines' Mills, Antietam ("Bloody Lane"), Fredericksburg, and Chancellorsville.
