3 volumes bound together, 12mo (84 x 129 mm). Engraved title pages, diagrams, several folding. (Toning, occasional brown spotting.) 19th-century stamped reverse calf, with two black morocco gilt-lettered spine labels (front board charred, some scuffs at extremities). Provenance: L.M. Thorn (ownership inscriptions).
New Edition of General Scott's infantry guide, published "to ensure uniformity throughout the Army." (Foreword by Secretary of War Lewis Cass).
