[CIVIL WAR]. Model 1858 forage cap with artillery insignia. 

Visor to crown 3 3/4 in. dark blue wool felt forage cap, tarred leather visor, leather chinstrap with 17 mm brass general service eagle buttons, leather sweatband, no lining (some mothing with one repair, brim with staining and wear); width 3 1/4 in. 1858 Pattern die-struck gilt brass artillery insignia (minor tarnish with an overall nice patina). 

Enlisted forage cap, also known as a "Bummer's cap."
