Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. Insignia grouping, incl. 2 infantry hunting horn insignia with correct soldered loops, Smith patent strap, officer wreath, and additional strap.

4 x 1 9/16 in. captain of medical corps Smith patent strap (some darkening of brass, light soil, lacking manufacturer's label). Straps feature stamped brass relief borders, rank bars, green wool centers, black cloth backing with green cloth folded over. -- 3 7/8 x 1 7/16 in. lieutenant of infantry shoulder strap (bullion darkened). Straps feature gold bullion borders and rank devices, blue velvet centers, and black silk backing. -- Approx. 2 7/16 x 2 in. officer's 1858 Pattern "U.S." wreath hat insignia (some tarnish to bullion, loss to velvet pile). Composed of gold and silver bullion embroidered on black velvet. Wreath approx. width 1 3/8 in. -- Two approx. 3 1/2 x 2 in. die-struck brass infantry hat insignia, 1858 pattern, loops soldered to verso (light tarnish, some surface wear). -- Together, 5 pieces of insignia.
