Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. Peace flask. Manufactured by Batty, Springfield, MA. 1858.
9 1/2 x 4 x 1 1/2 in. copper powder flask with round hangers (very good patina, few minor dents to body, some oxidation particularly near the hangers). The body is embossed with the US armory eagle with shield, 2 clasped hands surrounded by a sunburst and series of stars, and an assortment of arms with "US" shield at center. The top of flask is marked near spout "1858 / Batty / Springfield Mass." Martial inspector marked "A.D.K" near manufacture date. These peace flasks were made for the US Government by Batty.
