Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. Colt Model 1860 Army .44 caliber revolver made in 1862.
With all matching serial numbers 63451, dating production to 1862. 8 in. barrel length. Item features recoil shield cutaways and a notch to bottom strap for shoulder stock attachment. Cylinder scene is good, with scattered clusters of pitting. Grips show two weak inspector cartouches from Granville D. Shattuck (GDP) on left grip and John Taylor (JT) on right grip. Item is also marked with an "M" to right side of barrel, an "H" to bottom of left grip, and an "H" to frontstrap. Barrel is marked with one-line New York Colt address. Item is in fine condition with about 30% original finish remaining. Bore is frosty and shows scattered pitting to rifling. Action is functional.
