Lot Description
[NATIVE AMERICANS]. BARKER, A.W., photographer. Hand-colored CDV of Sac and Fox Chief, Red Stone. Ottawa, KS.
2 1/8 x 3 3/16 in. CDV on cardstock mount (toning, and loss to upper right corner of image; discoloration and light wear to mount). Verso bears Barker's imprint along with inked identification of subject, "Red - Stone / Fox Chief." The chief appears seated, wearing a bear claw necklace, what appears to be a peace medal, and an ornately decorated war shirt, and holding an eagle wing fan. Though further information about his identity cannot be confirmed, his appearance shows that he was an important figure in the Sac and Fox tribe.
