Lot Description
[WESTERN AMERICANA]. HILLERS, John K., FENNIMORE, J., and BEAMAN, E.O., photographers. A group of 10 Powell Expedition stereoviews, featuring images of crew members, boats, and the photographer's dark tent. 

6 1/8 x 4 1/4 in. stereoviews on cardstock mounts (overall very good condition, rich tonality, some with light soiling; corner and edge wear to mounts). Rectos feature "US Topographical and Geological Survey of the Colorado River of the West, By J.W. Powell and A.H. Thompson" imprint. Most versos with applied paper labels including the photographer's credit, image number, and title. Some labels also include the "Department of the Interior, US Geographical and Geological Survey of the Territories" imprint and 1875 date. One verso also includes an applied paper label from publisher J.F. Jarvis, Washington, DC.

The group is highlighted by 2 stereoviews by Hillers showing the photographer's dark tent, including No. 21, Mouth of the Narrows, and No. 203, Walls of Limestone.
