Lot Description
[WESTERN AMERICANA]. Adams Express Company blanket.
83 x 84 in. fawn-colored wool blanket with red stripes and green print "Adams Express Company" housed within a rectangular box surmounting the number "7154" on each end of one side (few small holes throughout, scattered edge wear, light soil).
Blanket may have been manufactured by J.E. Ashworth & Sons, a manufacturing company known for their fawn colored horse blankets which were used by Wells Fargo, American Express, and Adams Express transport companies. Auction records show similar fawn color horse or lap blankets coming to auction bearing the Wells Fargo identification, however, no similar Adams Express blankets are located. A seldom seen piece of Americana.
