[POLITICS]. Wm. McKinley. Garret A. Hobart. Sound Money-Protection and Prosperity. Flag Day, Saturday, Oct. 31. Chicago: Republican National Committee, 17 October 1896.
21 1/4 x 16 3/4 in. broadside printed in blue and red in the style of an American flag (splits and tears, toning); framed to 26 1/2 x 20 5/8 in. (not examined out of frame). Signed in type by the Chairman of the Republican National Committee, M.A. Hanna.
Jugate portraits of the Republican candidates in the 1896 election, William McKinley and Garret A. Hobart are superimposed over a 45-star flag with their campaign slogan, "Sound Money, Protection, and Prosperity" as well as a proposal for a "Flag Day" for "the preservation of our national honor, for sound money and the advancement of our people's interests and general prosperity, display the national colors at their homes, their places of business and wherever they may be seen."
