From the industrial northern suburb of Chicago, printed 2 days after the Great Fire. With headlines and reporting on the inferno including: "The Fire King. Later Details of the Destruction of the Great City of the West. Terrible Scene of Desolation. Fearful Loss of LIfe. Estimated Amount of Losses. SUmmary punishment of Incendiaries and Thieves..."
[With:] VARIN, Raoul (1865-1943), artist. Ernest BYFIELD, engraver. A. ACKERMANN & SON, Inc., publisher. Chicago in 1871 The Great Fire at the junction of the north and south branches of the Chicago River. Engraved equating with hand-coloring, 1928, image 12 1/8 x 8 1/8 in. (visible 13 1/4 x 11 1/8 in. visible sheet), on wove paper, minor even toning, matted and framed to 20 1/4 x 18 1/4 in., not examined out of frame. Signed by Varin and numbered 81 of 100.
