Lot Description
[TRANSPORTATION]. Northern R.R. Company Regulations For the Receipt, Storage, and Delivery of Freight, at Ogdensburgh. Ogdensburgh, NY: Hitchcock & Tillotson, 10 May 1854.

10 1/4 x 16 in. printed broadside (toning and small separations along original folds); framed to 14 1/2 x 19 1/2 in. (not examined out of frame). Signed in type by Superintendent George V. Hoyle.

The Northern Railroad (later the Ogdensburg and Lake Champlain Railroad) was incorporated on 14 May 1845 to connect Ogdensburg on the St. Lawrence River to Rouses Point on Lake Champlain, with construction completed on 1 October 1850. It connected with the Vermont and Canada Railroad across a floating bridge on 1 September 1851 opening up several New England markets. The broadside here advertises the prices for their services of storing and delivery of various types of freight.
