Lot Description
[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. A group of 3 half plate daguerreotypes of large groups, incl. identified family of 5 from Maine. 

Half plate daguerreotype group portrait of a family of 6 (light surface scratches); Housed in Daguerreian frame with brass mats, preserver, and glass (some nicks, tarnish to gilt). Pencil inscription to frame verso dates the image to 11 December 1861 and the male figure as E.W. Hurt of Dubuque, Iowa. 

[With:] Half plate daguerreotype group portrait of 6 men and boys, possibly a father and his sons (wiping, a few spots); housed in full pressed paper case (tarnish to brass mat, case hinge split, wear to extremities). -- Half plate daguerreotype portrait of a family of 5 (minor surface scratches, tarnish at perimeter); Housed in book-form lacquered case with polychrome and mother-of-pearl (lacking one clasp, wear to leather spine). Identified as Manuel Smith Drummond Lucinda Curtis Chamberlain and their children Franklin, Emma, and Henry of Georgetown, ME. 

[Also with:] Half plate pressed paper case. (hinge split, minor wear at extremities). No image included.
