Lot Description
[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. A group of 5 daguerreotypes of clergymen, some European, including:

Oversized sixth plate portrait of a likely French priest with curly hair, wearing a clerical robe, collar, preaching bands, and skull cap or zucchetto. (Tarnishing to edges, some fading ad spotting throughout image; sealed.) Housed in a passe-partout mount with tortoise shell design (some deterioration to seals and glass cover of mount). Verso label with imprint for "D. Fellot." -- Sixth plate seated portrait of a likely European subject wearing some variety of clerical robes, possibly for a religious order. (Spotting, surface scratching, light fading; seal broken.) Housed in a passe-partout mount within a wood and plaster wall frame (chipping to frame, paper seal to verso cut and with loss in many areas). Inked date "1860" on image and frame verso, though this could be modern. -- And 3 others, including a quarter plate example, a sixth plate example, and a ninth plate example, most without full cases. -- Together, 5 daguerreotype portraits of clerical subjects including some European examples.
