[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. A group of 14 daguerreotypes by Pollock of Baltimore, MD, including:

Quarter plate landscape-oriented portrait of three young gentlemen, seated together and posed affectionately. (Significant tarnishing around subjects, with spotting and dust specks throughout plate; original seal.) Housed in a pressed paper case (loss and separation to interior and spine). Mat stamped for Pollock. -- Quarter plate seated portrait of a haughty-looking gentleman holding a walking stick in one hand. (Tarnishing to edges, spotting and golden-colored speck to plate; original seal, no preserver present.) Housed in a pressed paper case. Mat stamped for Pollock. -- Quarter plate portrait of a young girl seated next to a table with a stack of books and wearing a bracelet with circular charm or pendant. (Significant tarnishing around subject, with spotting and dust specks to image, heavy spotting to mat; original seal.) Housed in a fully separated leatherette case. Mat stamped for Pollock. -- And 11 others, including 3 quarter plate examples and 8 sixth plate examples, many without full cases. -- Together, 14 each with mat stamp or paper label crediting the image to Pollock of Baltimore.

Henry Pollock was born in Washington, DC, and worked as a daguerreian in Baltimore, MD from 1849-1860 (and perhaps later). From 1851 to 1859 he was listed at 155 Baltimore Street.
