The Blessings of Love is a collection of Mother Teresa's words that serve as instructions for how to make our daily lives count. Mother Teresa was an Albanian-Indian Catholic nun who was born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu in in Skopje, North Macedonia (at the time part of the Ottoman Empire). At the age of eighteen she moved to Ireland and then to India, where she lived most of her life. In 1950, she founded the Missionaries of Charity, whose sisters, brothers and priests serve the poorest of the poor throughout the world. Active in nearly 140 countries, they run hospices and homes for people with HIV/AIDS, leprosy and tuberculosis; soup kitchens; dispensaries and mobile clinics; children's and family counseling programs; orphanages; and schools. Mother Teresa was the recipient of numerous honors, including the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize. She was beatified as “Blessed Teresa of Calcutta” in October 2003.
