Lot Description
Christian Dior Jason Martin Limited Edition Lady Dior Bag, 2016
The Dior Lady Bag first debuted in 1995 as the Chouchou bag, and was presented to Princess Diana by Bernadette Chirac, then-First Lady of France. It was renamed in 1996 to honor the late princess. It was launched during Gianfranco Ferré’s tenure using the ‘cannage’ pattern inspired by the cane-backed chairs favored by Christian Dior in his salons. The bag has since been canonized as a house staple, reinvented each season by the successive creative directors.
Dior collaborated with contemporary artist Jason Martin to produce this bag, which was debuted at Art Basel Miami in 2016. The bag’s dimensionality evokes the artist’s monochrome relief paintings, meditations on liquid metal and manipulating material.
Grey leather bag with matching dual top handles, one interior compartment with zippered pocket, detachable strap, and top zipper closure.
