Lot Description
[BLACK PANTHER PARTY]. Evidence of Intimidation and Fascist Crimes by USA. The War on the Black Panther Party 1968-1969. [San Francisco?]: Black Panther Community News Service, 21 February 1970.

9 1/2 x 19 3/4 in. broadside printed in black, grey, and red (very fine condition).

A visual calendar issued by the Black Panther Party detailing the violence and intimidation they experienced. A legend explains the 7 boxes which represent acts including "arrest & release", "violent harassment", "police raid", and "murdered", with blocks representing these acts for each month of 1968 and 1969. Interspersed are illustrations and brief descriptions of important acts including: "Lil' Bobby Hutton (17): Police shot Hutton 12 times after he surrendered and stripped to his underwear"; "Fred Hampton: Sentenced to serve 2-5 years in prison for allegedly stealing $71 worth of ice cream"; and "Bobby Seale: in order to demonize the Black Panther Party cofounder, a judge ordered Seale shackled and gagged in court, where he was facing charges of conspiracy and inciting a riot. The charges were eventually dropped."
