[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY] -- [RECONSTRUCTION]. Stereoview of an African American subject paying a banjo.
5 3/4 x 3 in. stereoview on cardstock mount (very light toning, light wear to edges and corners). Series title and vignettes printed on mount recto: "Groups from Life. Comic and Grotesque." Verso bears applied paper label with image number and caption reading, "'I'se come from Louisiana, with my banjo on my knee' XV Constitutional Amendment."
Photograph shows an African American banjo player seated on a chair or stool in a modest home, holding his instrument as if to play it. A young male subject, possibly a white boy in blackface, sits on a smaller stool nearby.
