[RELIGION]. A group of 7 items involving African American churches and pastors, incl. AME Church membership card, Order of the Black Rose membership card, photographs, and imprints.


AME Church membership card. N.p., n.d. 5 1/16 x 3 in. printed card (soiling, stains). An incomplete donation card to an AME Church. -- Order of the Black Rose membership card. Philadelphia: N.p., n.d. 3 7/8 x 2 1/4 in. printed card. The card verso reads: "This Order is to Help Poor Black People" with further stipulations of member duties. It is unclear if this item is related to the Order of the Black Rose which appears to be a Confederate Veteran related organization that has supported the concept of Black Confederate veterans. -- Composite portrait of 9 young men, including 2 Black subjects with facsimile signatures. New York and Boston: Champlain Studios, n.d. Overall 13 3/8 x 9 3/8 in. composite photograph (large chips, tears to card). The man in the lower left, John W.P. Collier, was a well-known reverend of the AME Church. -- Trustee Board of the First African Baptist Church of Philadelphia - June 15-1941. Philadelphia: Standard Photo Service Co., 1941.
