[OCCUPATIONAL]. Platform step stool used by Pullman Palace Car Company and other objects associated with travel on a Pullman Company train.
A painted yellow, metal step stool with an unpainted metal crosshatched top featuring "PULLMAN" at center (flaking to yellow paint, rubber feet have hardened, wear). Approx. 20 (l) x 18 (w) x 10 (h). Manufactured by Magline Inc., Piconning, Michigan
[With:] Wool railroad berth blanket, 51 x 87 in., marked "Pullman / 7" (some light soil and discoloration); towel marked "Property of the Pullman Company," 23 3/4 x 15 3/4 in. (some stains, light soil); 3 pieces of Pullman "Indian Tree" pattern china, comprising a 7 1/8 in. diameter plate marked "Syracuse China," a 3 1/4 in. diameter cup without maker markings, and a 2 3/4 in. (h) x 1 5/8 in. diameter creamer or syrup marked on front "Pullman" (wear, some adhesive residue and soil to all pieces); "Stanley Super Vac" thermos stamped "Pullman" (minor dents, rust, and adhesive remnants including a 2 3/4 x 3/4 in. white sticker ahhered to side); brown ashtray marked 'The Pullman Company"; a spitoon stamped at base "The Pullman Co."; a 5 1/2 x 3 in. patch "Travel and Sleep in Pullman Safety and Comfort"; a 2 1/8 x 1 1/4 in. "Pullman" bar of soap; and a pamphlet titled "9 way to travel in comfort by Pullman," 1964, the Pullman Company.
