Lot Description
[SLAVERY & ABOLITION]. A receipt for goods including shoes purchased for the enslaved woman "Hope" and for the enslaved child "Ledey," 1768-1769.
1p, 7 1/2 x 5 1/2 in. (creasing and some small tears along folds, toning, damp stain upper left corner).
Document signed by "Benjamin Pashall" indicating receipt of payment from "Jacob Loueas" for shoes purchased between October 1768 and February 1769, including "Shoes for Neger Garl Ledey" and "Shoes for Neger Woman Hope." Though the receipt does not explicitly state it, it is likely that the woman and child were enslaved.
This lot is located in Cincinnati.
