8vo. Photographic illustrations throughout. (Minor toning at page edges.) Original wrappers laid down on boards with Vinabind, new endpapers (some soil, toning, abraded area to front board).
FIRST EDITION manual prouced by hairstyling pioneer and entrepreneur Willie Lee Morrow. After moving to San Diego from Eutaw, Alabama, he trained as a barber, opened his own shop, and founded the California Curl Company, noted for developing and commercializing the afro pick, also known as "Eze Teze." They also developed the California Curl treatment, a precursor to the Jheri curl. After the publication of this manual, he was contracted by the United States Department of Defense to train military barbers in Black styling and shaving techniques. RARE: OCLC locates only 14 copies.
