Manuscript petition to divide enslaved individuals from an estate. Warren County, MS, 28 December 1841.
1 page, folio, 7 5/8 x 12 3/4 in., separations along old folds, creases, toning.
A petition by John B. Hughes to divide "divers slaves" who were enslaved by Beverly Hughes to be divided from the estate as his widow, Susan Hughes, has remarried.
[With:] Authorization for executor to sell three named enslaved individuals: Julian, Pauline, and Rachel. [Mississippi?], [1850s?].
1 page, 8 x 6 in., old crease.
In pencil, the document authorizes the sale of enslaved Julian, Pauline, and Rachel to secure proceeds for Eliza Sigwold and her children.
