Wanli Period (1573-1620)
明萬曆 五彩人物圖蓋罐
of hexafoil form, with straight sides divided into six lobes, each containing a rectangular cell painted with individual scenes depicting a scholar clad in red robes flanked by attendants beneath pines, all beneath a band of lotus meander at the mouth. Incised to the underside with a six-character mark in underglaze blue; together with a conforming hardwood cover and stand.
