Lot Description
A Carved Russet Jade Figural Group of a Monkey and a Horse
Early Qing Dynasty

清早期 褐玉馬上封侯擺件
carved to show a stout, bridled horse hitched at a post before a monkey, the primate brandishing a switch in anticipation of its mount. The whole executed utilizing the stone's variegated tones ranging from amber to deep coffee to render the horse's dappled coat against the darker shades of the monkey and integral rocky ground; the whole raised above a conforming hardwood stand.

Length 5 in., 12.6 cm.
