An American Glass Inset, Carved and Painted Pine Carousel Horse
Attributed to James Sheetz (1851-1923), Circa 1880s
appears to retain the original paint and inset swirl glass marble eyes.
Height 56 1/2 x width 42 x depth 10 inches; diameter of base 30 inches.
Two similar carousel horses attributed to Sheetz are held at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley in Winchester, Virginia.

Condition Report
Retains original paint, eyes, leather seat and mane. Tail appears to be a later replacement. Later stand with interior bracket attached to horse. Small plank added between rear legs from stability.
Surface wear, scuffs and losses to paint throughout, consistent with age. Age cracks throughout, some with added nails for stability. Loss to upper lip/nostril, and losses to tips of ears. In stable condition overall, with only front right leg slightly loose at knee.
