A Distinguished Collector of Edward S. Curtis
Literature:
Edward S. Curtis, The North American Indian: The Complete Portfolios, Taschen, 1997, p. 617
In the early seventeenth century, Franciscan missionaries introduced certain Christian rites to the Pueblo tribes who combined them with more traditional Native American ceremonies. These "feasts" were practiced on the days of the saints in whose protection the villages were assigned.
This platinum print is a very rare variant of Edward S. Curtis's published work, A Feast Day at Acoma.
