Lot Description
[MINING]. A group of approx. 80 RPPCs & photographs of mining and oil drilling.
Approx. 55 real photo postcards, 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 in., or smaller, many unused, 3 stereoviews, and 22 silver gelatin photographs, 3 x 5 1/2 in., or smaller. Many of the scenes are identified in the negative.
Highlighted titles/scenes include: Inside view of the Dixie Fuel Co. Mine, Paris, AR. -- Burning waste oil in a California Oil Field. -- Multiple views of oil wells, incl. Freeport, CA, oil well. -- View of water wheel used for mining. -- Improved Slucing Method. A Yukon Mining Scene. -- Gold Dredger near Eureka, CA. -- Placer mining in California. -- Ore cars in mine, Hibbing, MN. -- Multiple photographs of a mine in San Diego, previously removed from an album (not RPPCs). -- Multiple images of a diamond preserve in Murfreesboro, AR. -- 2 views of the Quincy Hoist, Hancock, MI.
Together, approx. 80 real photo postcards and photographs involving mining and drilling for oil. Condition generally good to very good. Some with edge and corner wear/loss, toning, and album residue to verso.
