[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY - SPORTS]. 9 photographs of various sports teams and players, including:
Silver gelatin outdoor portrait of a baseball team, two of the players reclining on the ground with bats, a catcher's mask, and gloves. [Berwick, PA]: n.p., [1908]. Ink inscription on verso identifies the subject as "The Broadway A.C. Base Ball Team, Berwick, Pa. Col., Co." -- Silver gelatin studio portrait of a Stanford baseball player. Palo Alto, CA: Franklin & Co., ca early 20th century. -- Albumen outdoor portrait of a group of pole vaulters. Rutland, VT: Geo. H. Emery, n.d. (Loss to corners, heavy soiling throughout). Emery credit and series title printed on mount recto. Partially indecipherable ink inscriptions on verso present the image to a "Harry Buel." -- And 6 others, including photographs of more baseball players, football players, and boxers. -- Together, 9 photographs of sports teams and players, ranging in size from 2 5/8 x 4 5/8 in. to 5 x 7 1/8 in., most on cardstock mounts. Conditions vary, though most have varying degrees of toning, surface soiling, and wear to mount edges and corners.
