Lot Description
[WESTERN AMERICANA]. A group of 80 RPPCs and photographs of rodeos and cowboys.

The lot is comprised of the following: approx. 77 real photo postcards, 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 in., or smaller, many unused, 1 stereoview, and 2 silver gelatin photographs, 3 3/4 x 6 in., or smaller, showing studio portraits and outdoor views of cowboys and cowgirls in action, rodeos, and various images of Round-Ups, most notably the Pendleton Round-Up and Cheyenne Frontier Days. Many of the scenes are identified in the negative.

Bowman. -- Composite postcard promoting Frontier Days, Cheyenne, WY. -- View of the Red Cross at the Round-Up. -- RPPC of 4 identified "Lady Relay Riders" at Cheyenne, WY. -- Little Mrs. Wilkes Looking for a Soft Spot, Miles City Round-Up, July 1914, by Marcell, Portland, OR. -- "Indians Ridin' for Money" at the Stampede in Calgary, 1919. -- View of Bertha Dukes hitting the dirt after trying to ride Sitting Bull, by W.S. Bowman. 

Additional subjects include: Col. W.F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody and Mrs. L. Schwoob (?) at 49 Camp. -- Deadwood Dick, with his death date listed. -- Multiple images of cowboys and performers involved in the Pendleton Round-Up.

Together, approx. 80 real photo postcards and photographs. Condition generally good to very good. Some with edge wear, toning, and album residue to verso.

[With:] Souvenir Folder Pendleton Round-Up, September 26, 27, 28, 1912, containing multiple prints taken during the 3-day event. Some staining to folder, occasional spotting and soiling to interior prints.
