Lot Description

Two Liberty & Co. Capes, 1900-10s

This lot contains two capes.

THE FIRST
Red/Rose wool cape with sweeping curved hem in the front and trimmed with a 3.5" wide woven band down the center front and over the shoulders. The woven band features a wreath of flowers. The cape is secured with two covered buttons and a loop. The back is secured with a metal ring and finished at the hem with a silk thread tassel.

THE SECOND
Cream wool evening wrap trimmed with bands of silk thread embroidered white silk. The embroidery features a blooming tree or branch surrounded by geometric lines.

THE FIRST
The overall condition is very good with some minor open seams where the trim is attached to the cape and the fabric has stretched open at the back neck where the metal ring is attached.

THE SECOND
The overall condition is poor due to multiple holes throughout and the hem has been cut and poorly turned back and sewn.
