Lot Description
House of Worth Haute Couture Coat Trimmed in Fur, 1920s


Winter coat of brown silk woven with silver metallic thread in a paisley pattern. The coat is trimmed with sable fur around the collar, sleeve hems, and the length of the attached scarf. There is a head of the animal on each cuff and one at the neck. The coat is cut with a wrap over design at front, long full sleeves, and an extra panel on the back left side seam that is gathered into the shoulder. This same panel extends into a loose self-fabric scarf that is edged with sable. The coat and sleeves are lined with red/rose silk velvet.

Condition Report

Condition:

The overall condition is good with fading on the metallic thread over the back, a patch on the right sleeve cap, a hole in the silk velvet lining on the right hem. There is a 1/2" popped seam in the armscye and in the under collar.
