Six Japanese Carved Wood Netsuke
Late 19th/20th Century
the first by Meikeisai Hojitsu, carved to show the immortal Shoki looking down into a well, searching for a demon, the underside rim signed with a two-character mark, 法實; the second in the shape of a standing kappa bearing an umbrella, the underside signed with a two-character mark, Yosui, 陽水; the third in the shape of a big skull with a skeleton climbing atop; the  in fourth form of Damura; the fifth attributed to Masakazu, depicting a demon crouching beneath a large straw hat, unsigned; the sixth showing a mermaid hugging a carp, unsigned.
Length of longest 2 3/8 in., 6 cm.
