An American Needlework Alphabet and Verse Sampler Wrought by Minerva Scott
Utica, New York, Circa 1830, with later additions
edged circa 1870 with lace identified by manuscript notes as having been worn by Mary L. Scott 1850, lace identified to a grandmother's cap circa 1825, and lace identified to the half-handkerchief of an ancestor circa 1770.
with square of cotton cloth purportedly bought during the War of 1812. Price at that time one Dollar per yard affixed to lower edge.
Sampler 19 1/2 x 19 1/4 inches; overall 23 3/4 x 23 inches.
together with two cast iron wall-mounted coffee grinders by J. & E. Parker, one bearing oval Union Mill patent plate dated 1855; the other with circular eagle motif patent plate dated 1860.
also with a tied beiderwand jacquard wool and cotton weaver's sample by Gabriel Rausher, Delaware County, Ohio, circa 1861 signed in corner block.
